My wife's grandfather went through Parris Island in the early 1910s, fought in two wars, and settled in Chicago. The next time he visited here was 75 years later, and we took him on a tour. His only comment: "Except for the (Broad River) bridge, it hasn't changed much. It's still a pretty town."
