I think Beaufort is so special because this is one of the few places where the Greyhound buses come and turn around.

My great grandfather was born in Beaufort in 1804. My sister lives in the house she was born in, my mother was born in and grandmother lived in from age 9 until her death in 1963.

Everyone in Beaufort loves to get together for a party: birthdays, fundraisers, benefits, or just to celebrate a Friday night. All my friends will be there, guaranteed.

I suppose one day sentiment will give way to pragmatism and the Woods Memorial Bridge will be replaced by something more modern. I hope it outlives me, though. I'm terribly impatient, particularly behind the wheel, but no matter how big a hurry I've been in, I've never been upset to be stopped by that bridge. You just roll down the window, take in the view and thank God you live in a place so beautiful.

I was born on Parris Island and have lived in Beaufort most of my life. I feel so lucky to have been brought up in such a beautiful place and to have the memories and the friends I have.

I loved the first (history lecture) series. Can't wait for this one. I lived here for 12 years and thought I knew everything. How wrong I was.
